Wardrobe Ed(add)ition Vol. 1

Like that play on words?  I was pretty proud of myself when I thought of that :)

Anyways I was thinking it might be fun to do Wardrobe Ed(add)ition posts where I show you guys what I've added to my closet lately whether it's every season or every few months.  If I'm being honest, it's more like every week because I have a shopping problem but that's an entirely different post for a different day ;)

At least once a year I buy one new pair of jeans, maybe two if I'm looking for something more specific.  I don't buy jeans too often because jeans are one of those items that get better with time.

express jeans

I really love the way Express jeans fit so I recently added a darker wash to my closet and I LOVE them.  JCrew or Guess would be my runner up go-to stores for jeans.

Speaking of JCrew, my most recent purchase was from their factory store.  You may have spotted the pieces on my Instagram.

This bow cardigan was at JCrew last season and I missed out.  When I saw it at the factory this year, I made sure not to let that happen again!  This lilac polkadot button down is adorable!  Comfortable, versatile and purple is my favorite color!

GAP is my next go to store, especially for versatile pieces that I can wear at work and on the weekends.  They were having a big sale last weekend so I grabbed a few winter essentials.

I love wearing pastel colors in winter.  I pair them with something darker to make them more seasonally appropriate but they make me happy!  Who says you have to wear all dark colors in the cooler months! This scarf and sweater are soooo soft and warm and who doesn't need pink color block flats.  Sadly these flats are no longer available online.

I LOVE Ann Taylor Loft for stylish and affordable work wear.  I have a habit of buying a lot of black and grey for work because they go with everything.  I usually add a fun scarf or shoe for color.

The bow shell is super comfortable and can be worn so many ways.  The Zoe pant is my new favorite and this color is to die for!  The black polkadot sleeve top pictured is not online anymore but H&M carries a very similar version.  I had bow theme that night I guess because I snagged this kelly green and navy bow clutch for $18 but also no longer available. Similar.

And last my favorite store of all time, Target.  I'm loving their pieces this season.  I've mentioned this polkadot scarf more than once because it goes with everything.  And I love love this sweater.  It's super soft and has a metallic threading, adding the right amount of sparkle.  I want the other two colors, I love it that much!

What are some new pieces you've purchased lately?

Have a great night!

Wedding Wednesday: Engagement Pictures

For the next few weeks I'm going doing to do a series entitled Wedding Wednesday.  Back story, hubs and I started dating July 4, 2006.  I was 17.  We were engaged July 4, 2007.  Five years, yes you read that right, five years later we finally picked a wedding date, September 14, 2013.  Looking back I am glad we chose to hold off for that long.  Not because I was too young (yes I was!) but because waiting allowed us to have the wedding of our dreams!  It was truly the most amazing day of our lives!!  We had some amazing help along the way which you will see more of in the coming weeks.

Even though we had been engaged for quite some time, our photographer gave us an engagement shoot with our photography package so we took full advantage.  We did our pictures on September 13, 2012, exactly one year away from our wedding.  I'm a sentimental person so I put a lot of thought into our photos and wanted to make each aspect of them unique and meaningful.

The first location was the site of our first date.

1

The next shots taken at a windmill had significance being a landmark in the town Josh grew up and of course the American flag pays tribute to our "dating" anniversary, July 4th.

2

The shots at the football field were a bit rushed because we were starting to lose daylight for the beach but I'm so glad we squeezed them in.  Josh actually played on that field as a kid.   3

We ended at the beach and it couldn't have been more perfect.  We changed behind a little shack and even though hubs forgot his tie, I still love the shots.

All photo credit goes to the lovely Mandy Mayberry Photography!

After the beach, we changed and went back to our first date location and reminisced over dinner!

Hope you enjoyed them!

Have a great day!

Favorite Etsy finds

Etsy, much like Target, never seems to fail me.  If I'm looking for something custom, I go to Etsy.  If I'm looking for something unique, not found in stores, I go to Etsy. Today I want to share a few of my recent favorite items.  Hopefully you love them as much as I do.

1. How cute is this perfume print from Evelyn Henson!  I think it would be the perfect addition to a walk-in closet or bathroom.

2. I recently worked with Patti Murphy Boutique to create some personalized office supplies for my wedding coordinator/friend.  Patti is super easy to work with and her products are amazing!!  I am loooving this phone case!

3. The same person I gave the office supplies to also received a set of pencils from Amanda Catherine Designs.  How could you not enjoy writing with these!

4. Talk about sparkle, I am in love with these hangers from Pearls and Pastries.  She's a recent find and while I have not purchased one of her hangers, her Instagram did inspire me to get the polkadot scarf from Target, which by the way, I love.

5. Last, I am all about monogramming and initials and since getting married in September, I've been adding more to my collection.  I love this initial necklace from BipandBop and it would make a perfect engagement or wedding gift!

To kick of my first real post, it's all about Christmas.  Every Monday I will do a gift guide.  With that said, I love giving presents!  Almost as much as I love receiving them, I said almost ;) Today I'm bringing you a gift guide of chic stocking stuffers.  All these items are also on my own wish list!

Welcome to Sparkle & Soul

Hi girls & guys (maybe?)!!

This is my first Wordpress blog post.  I'm a transfer from Blogger however I haven't transferred those posts, the few that there are.  I need to find out if it's possible.  I switched from Blogger to Wordpress because I feel that Wordpress is going to allow for more freedom.

My name comes from my love of anything sparkly, see also glimmer, glitz, glitter and sequin.  I love it all!  I was going to do a play on words with soul to sole however I did not want to box myself in to only being able to talk about shoes (although I do LOVE them).  Soul to me though is something I put into anything I'm passionate about; recently it was my wedding.

My goal with this blog is to inspire you, my readers, to also add a little sparkle to  your life!

xo,

Ash
